Last night a mob, containing white males of Maycomb County who seemed to be lead by Mr. Walter Cunningham met up to gang up on Mr. Atticus Finch. This occurred after my bed time and outside of my house, which near the Maycomb County Jail House. The sounds of arguing woke me from my sleep, angered I grabbed my shot gun and headed out to my front porch. Not only were there adult men in this fight but I saw three young children no older then twelve years old. A big man, it was too dark for me to tell who he was, grab the oldest Finch boy by the collar after the boy made it clear he wasn’t taking the other two kids home.Mr. Finch yelled at this big guy to put down his son, barefooted and wearing overhauls, Scout Finch kicked this huge guy in the area that no man wants kicked in.Obviously he fell back and let the young lad go. Luckily enough that was all the fighting that took place that night. From my front porch I heard that little Scout use her charm and wit to remind Mr. Cunningham of his run-ins with the law and how her gracious father helped him out. Being a usual Cunningham he gathered up the mob and got them all to go home and mind their own business. After the little squabble broke up I got my few words with the lawyer and his courageous daughter, Scout. Atticus said “I’m very proud of Scout for using her knowledge of people to get them to rethink their decisions.” These words put a big smile on Scout face. All she had to say on why she acted the way she did was, “It wasn’t fair how that big guy was picking on Jem, so of course I had to help him. I didn’t mean to hurt him like that I was aiming for his shin but you know it was really dark.” Jean Louise ‘Scout’ Finch is certainly brave and smart for her age. As for the mob, when I met up with them they were all too ashamed to talk.
